There is a lot of stigma attached to the word ‘vampire,’ much of which comes from improper coverage in movies and TV shows such as Dracula, Twilight, or the Vampire Diaries. This has ruined the social status of the true vampire. In fact, most individuals are unaware what vampirism really is or how it’s conducted. This article is meant as a means to answer a few introductory questions and clear the air for our vampire friends. Please note that in no way, shape, or form do I, or any other author of Free-Spirited Mind condone feeding off the energies of another. This article series is meant to be purely informational. For ‘proper’ energy-raising techniques, please view my article on Raising Energy for Magickal Workings. This being said, let’s delve into the dark world that is the world of a vampire.

First off, there are two branches of vampirism: psychic vampirism and sanguine vampirism. A psychic vampire feeds off the energy and emotions of those around them and the earth in general. You may know several psychic vampires yourself; they can be identified based upon their habits and how they affect those around them. Many are unaware that they are feeding off the energies of others, which is quite unfortunate. Sanguine vampires are considered the ‘traditional’ form of vampires – those who feed off the energies of others by drinking the physical blood of others. Be extremely cautious when dealing with sanguine vampires. I think we can all agree that there is a very fine line between a sanguine vampire and a psychopath, or someone who simply has a fetish or ‘quirk.’

So, why do vampires have to feed upon the energies of others?

The answer is simple; it seems they have a deficient chakra system that makes them eat away their energy faster than the rest of us, forcing them to have to find alternative sources of energy other than their own. It is also very possible that there are natural energy blockages that prevent the flow of energy from properly surging through their being. Many are born this way.

Another common question involving vampires asks why there are two types of vampires. The answer is simple; there’s not. It’s all based around preference, knowledge, and experience in energy workings. Many sanguine vampires prefer their method of feeding because when the blood of another is ingested, their life force dissipates and absorbs into their light being upon digestion. However, for obvious reasons, consuming the blood of another person can be an extremely dangerous act, due to blood-borne illnesses and diseases such as HIV or Hepatitis. It is generally discouraged in the vampire community to participate in what is known as ‘blind feeding,’ or feeding blindly off a random donor. It is important to find a donor who is not only consenting to the process, but one who has also undergone thorough blood testing to ensure the physical safety of the vampire. There are many underground resources for sanguine vampires to find willing donors who have paperwork showing they’re clean.

Again, be very cautious when dealing with any sort of vampire; they can do a lot more damage than one may be led to believe, and be very cautious in how you react when someone tells you they’re a vampire of any sort. Many are simply ‘lifestylers’ or ‘role-players’ and should not be taken seriously.
